OAKLEY, ANNIE (1860-1926). Large cabinet photograph inscribed and signed ("Annie Oakley"), by Duryer, Newark, N.J. (imprint on mount), n.d. [circa 1906]. 226 x 150 mm. (8 7/8 x 5 7/8 in.) including mount, minor foxing at right, some soiling to mount. A full-length standing portrait of the sharp-shooter taking aim, inscribed on the lower mount: "Compliments of Annie Oakley 2. 19. 1906." "The feats of this pint-sized (4' 11") marksman were truly incredible. An international sensation travelling with Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show, she could split a playing card held on edge at thirty paces. She also shot cigarettes from her husband's mouth, and did so at royal insistence from the mouth of Crown Prince Wilhelm of Germany"--W.M.
