Two official NASA portraits of Astronauts Group 4 ("The scientists") and 5 selected for Project Apollo, April 1966. Vintage gelatin silver print on fibre-based paper, 25.5 x 20.5 cm (10 x 8 in), with NASA credit stamp, press stamp and date stamp JUL 9 1965 on verso, signed on recto by Duane Graveline and Joseph Kerwin (NASA Manned Spacecraft Center) and a vintage chromogenic print on fibre-based Kodak paper, 20.3 x 25.4 cm (8 x 10 in), with A Kodak Paper watermarks on verso, RED NUMBERED NASA S-66-49626 (NASA Manned Spacecraft Center). Footnotes: 1) Astronaut Group 4 ("The Scientists") was a group of six astronauts. They are pictured following MSC press conference announcing their selection by NASA in June 1965. Front row, left to right, are Owen Garriott (physicist), Harrison Schmitt (astrogeologist), and Edward Gibson (physicist). Back row, left to right, are Frank Michel (physicist), Duane Graveline (physician), and Joseph Kerwin (physician). Of the six, Schmitt was the only one to fly on Apollo and to walk on the Moon. 2) Official portrait of NASA's Astronaut Group 5, a group of nineteen astronauts selected by NASA in April 1966. Nine of them would fly on Apollo Moon missions. Seated, left to right, are Edward G. Givens, Jr., Edgar D. Mitchell, Charles M. Duke Jr., Don L. Lind, Fred W. Haise Jr., Joe H. Engle, Vance D. Brand, John S. Bull, and Bruce McCandless II. Standing, left to right, are John L. Swigert Jr., William R. Pogue, Ronald E. Evans, Paul J. Weitz, James B. Irwin, Gerald P. Carr, Stuart A.
