A Book About The National Parks Author: Albright, Horace M., And Frank J Taylor Place: Stanford University, California Publisher: Stanford University Press Date: 1928 Description: With photographic portrait frontispiece, numerous plates from photographs and text illustrations, illustrated endpapers. (8vo), original green cloth printed in black. First Edition. Inscribed by Horace Albright on the half-title: "With best wishes and appreciation to Gerald Marsh. Head Ranger Naturalist, one of my most faithful officious assistants during Yellowstone's most successful season. Faithfully, Horace M. Albright. - Yellowstone National Park, August 18, 1928." Laid in is a signed, typed letter from Albright on Department of the Interior stationery dated June 22, 1927 instructing all park personnel to let the bearer of the letter, Gerald Marsh, travel about Yellowstone Park freely as he performs his duties. Albright served as superintendent of Yellowstone National Park and, for a short time, Yosemite National Park. He was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 1980. Lot Amendments Condition: Some wear and sunning to cloth with light rubbing to extremities; Light toning to interior, typed letter with toning and original folds; very good. Item number: 289531
