Beschreibung:

Original art to the contents page of First Love Illustrated #87, pen and ink on bristol board with title pasteover, tentatively identified by Grand Comics Database as possibly the work of Joe Simon. Large size (14x22"). Excellent condition, ½" tear to pasteover, marginal foxing and fingermarks. Who drew this page? Grand Comics Database suggests Joe Simon as a possibility. PBA's Director of Comics asked the Facebook "Joe Simon Appreciation" group for opinions. Here are some remarks: "My first guess is Bill Draut." — Russel Harvey (Harvey Comics founder Alfred Harvey's son). "I don't see this as either Simon or Draut." — Michael T. Gilbert (creator of Mr. Monster). "You're not looking hard enough." — Russel Harvey to Michael T. Gilbert. "Draut worked for your father, but this is simply not Draut's style. I am offering my opinion, you don't have to agree with me." — Harry Mendryk to Russel Harvey. "And, I don't." — Russel Harvey to Harry Mendryk. "Looks like Joe Sinnott inks." — Jeff Norton, peacemaker. A limited edition of 150 softcover and 15 hardcover catalogues is available. 400 lots, fully illustrated. Fun reference, great keepsake. Softcover $30, deluxe hardcover with dust jacket and limitation plate $200. Ten of the 15 hardcovers are pre-ordered and the rest will go quickly, so reserve yours now.
