First Edition, trade issue. A survey of James Joyce's "Works in Progress" parts 1 and 3 from twelve different angles, attributed to Joyce's two pseudonyms G.V.L. Slingsby and Vladimir Dixon, dealing with Joyce's linguistic innovations in installments of the experimental "Work in Progress," which was later to become "Finnegans Wake." Also Samuel Beckett's First book appearance. Other contributors, Marcel Brion, Frank Budgen, Stuart Gilbert Eugene Jolas, Victor Llona, Robert McAlmon, Thomas McGreevy, Elliot Paul, John Rodker, Robert Sage, and William Carlos Williams. Cover design by Sylvia Beach. Falsely stamped "Made in Great Britain" on title page, actually printed at Chartres. Lot Amendments Condition: Wrappers browned and with some light wear, lower corner of front wrapper chipped; paper a bit browned; very good. Item number: 251446
