lot of 5, all 1830-1850 on pearlware bodies. Includes a fine 9" deep plate by Davenport with two underglaze printed marks, one a red cartouche with Scott's Illustrations, Legend of Montrose Davenport, and an oval green underglaze importer's mark Henderson & Gaines, Importers, 45 Canal St., New Orleans; PLUS a 9.25" Palestine plate by Adams with red underglaze banner and pattern name and impressed Adams; PLUS a 10.5" flat soup bowl with green central design of towers & bridge and red floral border with green underglaze printed mark Suspension Bridges on reverse; PLUS a 10.5" deep plate with desert scene with camels in center & red underglaze printed mark Tadmor in the Desert, Holy Bible, Jackson's Warranted; AND an 11" oval platter with romantic central design of troubadour in boat singing to woman on balcony, marked below with impressed Adams and green underglaze cartouche with pattern name Bologna. Provenance: Ex Collection of Arene Burgess of Bethalto, Illinois Condition: 1st & 2nd, few light stains on back, VG+; 3rd, few stains on back, small spider crack & few small tight shrinkage lines, still VG; 4th, small flake to foot rim, VG; 5th, EXC.
