Volume I, parts I & II [all published], 2° (480 x 300mm.), hand-coloured wood-engraved dedication leaf with vignette of Catherine II, 101 hand-coloured plates by Karl Friedrich Knappe (occasional very light spotting, a few plates shaved not affecting images), 19th-century half calf gilt (extremities rubbed, scuffed), bookplate of Kenneth K. MacKenzie, cancelled blindstamp of U.S. Department of Agriculture, some pencil marginalia. THE FIRST RUSSIAN FLORA, compiled by the pioneer naturalist of Northern Asia under the auspices of the St. Petersburg Academy of Sciences and with the patronage of the Empres Catherine II.
