PAOLI, Paolo Antonio. Avanzi delle antichita esistenti a Pozzuoli. Cuma e Baja. [Naples]: 1768. 2° (480 x 365mm). Engraved throughout. Titles, text and captions in Italian and Latin. Half-title, title, dedication plate to Ferdinand IV of Naples, double-page map, 65 views and plans by G. Volpato and others after G. Ricciardelli, A. Cardon, C.F. Nicole, G.B. Natali and others, one folding, two double-page, 36 text leaves and 2 index leaves in two columns, printed recto only, within a narrow decorative border, two headpieces on the first leaf, one tailpiece at the end of the index. (The folding plate and the first of the double-page plates with neatly repaired tears into the image area.) Old calf gilt, spine in seven compartments with raised bands, each compartment with red morocco onlays, the second lettered, the others decorated with various tools including vases, fasces and a large flower tool (joints weak and somewhat split at head and foot). A fine copy with wide margins of 'un eccellente libro non tanto per le illustrazioni del dotto antiquario, quanto per la parte Calcografica' Cicognara 2692; Berlin Kat. 1895.
