Isaacs and Printed at the Golden Cockerel Press Author: Milton, John Place: Waltham Saint Lawrence, Berkshire Publisher: Golden Cockerel Press Date: 1937 Description: Title-page printed in red & black. Wood-engraved illustrations by Mary Groom. 33.5x23 cm. (13x9"), half pigskin & marbled boards, spine ruled & lettered in gilt with gilt-stamped cockerel vignette, top edge gilt, others untrimmed, slipcase. No. 106 of 200 copies printed on Batchelor hand-made paper. Superb copy of one of the premier productions of the Golden Cockerel Press - from the library of Haven O'More. Laid in are the prospectus, advertisement for the Press featuring the Milton, and an autograph letter signed by Christopher Sandford, to a Mr. Rook, granting him permission to "reproduce whatever block you like in your Arts Bulletin." With the bookplate of Haven O'More. Lot Amendments Condition: Slipcase with wear, old repairs at seams, but quite scarce and rarely present; light even rubbing to front board, corners of earlier and latter leaves darkened from the leather binding corners, as common; fine, rarely found in this condition.
