Fine Pens & Watches

Estimate
US$1,000 - US$1,500
Price realised:
US$3,300
Beschreibung:

A rare and outstanding Parker Duofold Centennial "Bumblebee" fountain pen, acrylic barrel and cap with alternating white-edged yellow stripes and transparent interstices, black endpiece and captop, three gold-plated cap bands, arrow clip. Barrel imprinted with Lucky Curve banner inset with limitation number. Medium 18K two-tone nib. Outer sleeve (with printed label: "Parker Duofold London SE 039"), outer box, lacquered wood display box, signed and numbered certificate of authenticity, illustrated Duofold card, service guide, chamois, refill cartridges. Limited Edition: 39/100. Excellent condition, no blemishes or flaws, has been inked. More formally known as the Special Edition Duofold 2007 or simply the London Parker Duofold, the "Bumblebee" was produced exclusively for the 2007 London Pen Show. The design was inspired by a 1930's Parker Vacumatic with white-bordered yellow rings, and the pen caused an immediate frenzy of interest in the pen world, rapidly establishing itself as one of the most coveted modern Parkers. Only 100 examples were made, of which 13 were retained by Parker and only 87 made available to the public. A rare, charismatic and lovely instrument. -Parker, Geoffrey, David Shephard & Dan Zazove. Parker Vacumatic. [Brighton: Surrenden Pens Limited, 2008]. See page 233 for a photo of the 1930's predecessor of this pen, which inspired Parker's Director of Heritage Products to create the "Bumblebee" as a premium item for the 2007 London Pen Show.
