A fine and extremely rare large size 18K gold manual wind chronograph bracelet watch sold by direct descent of the original owner Reference: 530 Date: Sold 20th December 1952 Movement: 23-jewel Cal.13 manual wind, mono-metallic balance with gold compensation screws, adjusted to 8 positions, blued steel Breguet overcoil balance spring, swan neck micro adjust regulator, column wheel chronograph, No.868255 Dial: Silvered, applied polished bullet hour markers, Arabic numeral 6 and 12, hard enamel outer 1/5th second divisions with Arabic 5 second markers, further outer tachymetre scale, subsidiary dials at 3 and 9 for constant seconds and 30 minute recording, polished leaf hands, blued steel centre chronograph hand Case: Brushed and polished tonneau form, snap on back, 19mm between lugs, crown flanked by twin rectangular chronograph pushers, No.513029 Strap/Bracelet: Associated 18K gold brick link Buckle/Clasp: 18K gold folding clasp Signed: Case, dial & movement Size: 36.5mm Accompaniments: Extract from the Archive Fußnoten The Ref.530 is one of the largest, rarest and most desirable chronograph examples made by Patek Philippe. Based on the classic reference 130 chronograph which was inspired by the popular Calatrava model, the 530 varied from its predecessor because of its oversized 36.5mm case; an impressive 4mm larger. Launched in 1938 with a 13 lignes movement, it was available until the mid 1950s in yellow gold, rose gold and rarely stainless steel with either 19mm or 20mm lug width. The current lot offers collectors the opportunity to own one of the finest examples of a yellow gold 530 to be offered at auction. The dial of the 530 is in exceptional condition and the watch is accompanied by its Extract from the Archives by Patek Philippe.
