He went on to compare our 'aesthetic' approach 'to that of a traveller who, when he sees a signpost, proceeds to admire its elegance, then asks who made it, and finally cuts it down and takes it home to be used as a mantelpiece ornament'. Above all I would like to be a maker of signposts; and to have them treated as signposts."
