Pekhotnoi Stroevoi Ustav . [Infantry Drill Regulations]. St. Petersburg: State War Collegium, 1792.
Pekhotnoi Stroevoi Ustav . [Infantry Drill Regulations]. St. Petersburg: State War Collegium, 1792. 3 parts in 1 vol., 8° (193 x 123mm). (Mostly marginal staining throughout, occasional spotting, some small marginal holes and wear.) Early wrappers (now detached, spine chipped, lightly soiled, small hole to fore-edge of rear cover). Detailed regulations for infantry drills, ranging from the procedure for moving the colours to instructions for moving along a narrow route while under fire. This edition, printed without a title-page, is based on that issued towards the end of the Seven Years War in 1763, which incorporated the lessons learnt from that conflict. It is a record of the regulations in force at the time, when Russia's war with the Ottoman Empire had just ended in resounding victory and territorial gains for Catherine's Empire under the leadership of Generals Suvorov and Kutuzov, amongst others. RARE: WorldCat records no copies of this edition in North America. SK 5297.
