Phillip (Arthur). The Voyage of Governor Phillip to Botany Bay, with an account of the Establishment of the Colonies of Port Jackson & Norfolk Island, compiled from authentic papers, which have been obtained from the several departments. To which are added, the journals of Lieuts. Shortlands, Watts, Ball & Capt. Marshall, with an account of their discoveries, 1st edition, John Stockdale, 1789, engraved portrait frontispiece, engraved title, list of subscribers, 53 engraved maps, plates and charts, several folding, advertisement leaf at end, plate 16 with 'Wulpine' for 'Vulpine', plate 52, Watt's Shark hand-coloured, one or two maps and plates close-trimmed with repairs, a few leaves and plates with frayed and soiled fore edges, title with date shaved at foot, some light offsetting and spotting, a few small water stains, modern tan half calf, spine a little faded, 4to (Qty: 1) Ferguson 47; Hill 1346. 'This was the first authentic and official account of the expedition to New South Wales and of the foundation of the settlement' (Ferguson). Provenance: Library of Colin and Joan Deacon.
