Title: Photograph album assembled by a Royal Navy seaman during World War II in the Pacific Author: Place: No place Publisher: Date: 1940's Description: 96 silver photographs of various sizes from approx. 8.5x5.5 cm (3¼x2¼") to 24x19 cm (9½x7½"), loose in corner mounts on album leaves, many with handwritten captions on the leaves, a number of others captioned in the negative. Album measures 23.5x36 cm (9¼x14¼"), padded cloth. Photograph album put together by William George Narroway who served aboard the aircraft carrier H.M.S. Glory and other vessels. Present is the 4-page "Certificate of the Service of Narroway, William George .." recording his voluntary enlistment in 1943, the ships on which he served, and other details. The album comprises a marvelous record of the latter stages of the war in the Pacific through the eyes of a British sailor. Lot Amendments Condition: Wear as may be expected, very good.
