PIRANESI, Giovanni Battista (1720-1778) & Francesco PIRANESI (1748-1810). [ Vedute di Roma. Paris: Firmin-Didot- 1835 or later]. Large 2° (890 x 670mm or 860 x 580mm). 69 fine etched plates only (of 135) by G.B.Piranesi (67) or Francesco Piranesi (2). (Approximately half of the plates with appreciable spotting, to the margins in the main, but occasionally affecting the image area, about 12 plates with dampstaining to the blank margin.) Later green half morocco gilt (dampstained). A good selection of plates on wove paper, from the Firmin Didot edition of Piranesi's most famous work. The relevant Hind-Focillon numbers are available on request. Sold as a collection of plates, not subject to return.
