POST MEDIEVAL PAN WITH COMPANIONS OIL PAINTING PAIR Late 17th-early 18th century AD A pair of high quality oil on panel paintings, unframed, attributed to the circle of Louis Dorigny (Paris and Verona, 1654-1742); one depicting the reclining god Pan in a woodland scene, partially draped in a red cloak, his hair short and dark, his musculature pronounced, a vine-wreath to his head, reclining on the ground in the company of a voluptuous lady, wearing a pink and yellow robe, her long dark hair falling down her back, the group seated beneath a tree with four putti, two wreathed, picking grapes, an urn to the centre; the other depicting the same lady caressing Pan (holding pipes), both figures seated on the forest floor, her foot resting on the urn, behind, a satyr carrying a bounty of fruit on his shoulders, a putto and a nymph assisting, a male goat to the far right, in front of a stone pillar surmounted with a gold urn, a tree to the far left; both paintings unsigned. 765 grams total, 34 x 25 cm each (13 1/2 x 10").
