Proof 1883 (31 Jul.) two overlapping sheets (185x253mm. and 142x224mm.), neatly fitting on an album page, entitled "Dominica Postage Stamps. Existing and Proposed Schemes of Colours" , the existing colours represented by ½d. olive-yellow and 4d. blue imperf. and by 1d. lilac, 6d. green and 1/- magenta perf. 12½ and 2½d. red-brown perf. 14; the 1/- magenta has written alongside it "This colour cannot be improved upon" ; the proposed colours consist of five Dominica Postage proofs with blank value tablets on Crown CA watermarked papers perforated 14, in green, red, ultramarine, grey and orange-brown, with "½d., 1d., 2½d., 4d., 6d." respectively in manuscript alongside. The first three are bracketed as "Proposed colours, being those established by the International Postal Convention for these three duties" and the last two are bracketed as "Proposed colours" .
