Proof 1947 (30 Oct.) two pieces of wove paper each measuring 7x8 ins., both show type-written endorsement from a Major with the Royal Norfolk Regiment at Camp 70 in Xylotymbou, the first shows very fine examples of the handstruck "70 Camp Staff Special" in two different sizes (each with "30 OCT 1947" below) and "H.Q. 3 CAMP/DATE 30 OCT 1947/STAFFS (SPECIAL) CYPRUS", all struck in violet; the other piece bears 1938-51 ¼pi., ½pi., 1pi., 1½pi., 2pi. and 3pi. variously tied by one of the three purple handstamps, the typed endorsement certifies that the handstamps are for use on the mail of illegal Jewish immigrants pending the provision of a permanent canceller; the first piece with light crease clear of the markings, fine and most unusual.
