Proof Six progressive proofs, each stamp-size in black on card, some with margins, comprising:- 1) Face heavily shaded. Bale only, at left. Outline of ship sailing to left. 2) Similar to No. 1 but ship has been fully drawn, still sailing to left. 3) Much of the shading of the face, figure and lower background cleared off. 4) Ship drawn in, sailing to right. Box added on left and shading added generally. 5) Very similar to No. 4, slight touching up only; see pennant at mast-head. 6) Finished design. Shading added to face and arms of Britannia, and to sails of ship etc. A wonderful lot, some slight staining or soiling though a magnificent exhibition group. Photo
