In-12 (150 x 87mm). Fleuron, bandeau, initiales et cul-de-lampe gravés sur boisCOLLATION : *6 A-F6 RELIURE SIGNÉE DE CHAMBOLLE-DURU. Maroquin janséniste bleu, DOUBLURE de maroquin rouge, grand décor doré, dos à nerfs, tranches doréesPROVENANCE : Léon Rattier (ex-libris) — Mortimer L. Schiff (1877-1931 ; ex-libris, sa vente, Cat., mars 1938, n° 511) — André Rodocanachi (ex-libris) — Pierre Berès (mai 1955)
Représentée pour la première fois à Versailles le 18 août 1674, à l’occasion des fêtes données par Louis XIV pour célébrer la conquête de la Franche-Comté, Iphigénie connut un grand succès : la Champmeslé y brilla. La pièce marque le retour de Racine aux thèmes mythologiques.
