RACKHAM, Arthur (1867-1939). The Peter Pan Portfolio . London: Hodder and Stoughton, [1912]. Large 4° (540 x 505mm). 12 window-mounted coloured plates in the original matts. (Occasional light marginal soiling.) Original vellum gilt, original pink silk ties, original box (ties lightly worn, original box rubbed and with some staining). NUMBER 9 OF [?]20 COPIES SIGNED BY THE ARTIST IN PENCIL ON EACH MOUNT, also one of 100 signed by the publisher and printer. PROBABLY THE RAREST RACKHAM PUBLICATION. According to Mrs. Rackham only about 20 copies of the 100 intended were actually signed by the artist. Rackham selected his 12 favourite images from his Peter Pan book and reproduced them in a greatly enlarged format. Because of their suitability for framing very few of these sets have survived intact. Latimore and Haskell p. 39; Garland 33 .
