Note: a large and exceptionally detailed work on linen by Gudgeon. Ralston Gudgeon is best known for his paintings of birds and animals mostly in watercolour. Gudgeon studied at the Glasgow School of Art and in 1933 won the Torrance Memorial Award of the Glasgow Institute. In 1936 he was the youngest man ever to be elected to the RSW.
