Ramsay's account of the Revolutionary War in the South was mainly derived from the British Annual Register, the maps being amongst the earliest examples of indigenous American cartography. This work, and Ramsay's History of the American Revolution (1789) were the first two books to receive copyright in the United States (in 1790). (2)
