[2], 542, [6] pp. With double-page copper-engraved added pictorial title page & 50 double-page copper-engraved plates. (12mo) 13x7.5 cm (5¼x3"), period vellum. Captivating edition of Aesop's Fables, quite rare. It is apparently one of three volumes, but seemingly complete in itself with fifty fables, each illustrated with a double-page plate. Wohler seems to have published five or so similar editions between 1705 and 1715, with only one or two copies of each listed in OCLC, and only one of this 1707 edition, at the Universitatsbibliothek Augsburg. It has a slightly variant title, and may be Vol. II of the set, with basically the same pagination (the three index leaves may be at the front rather than the rear), and the fifty plates of the present copy, but no added pictorial title. The fables in the present copy are numbered 1 through 50, so it can be presumed to the the first volume of the set.
