Realtor's album of photographs of Oakland buildings, c.1927, a number stating the rise in value over the preceding decade Author: Place: Oakland, CA Publisher: Associated Realty Operators Incorporated Date: c.1927 Description: With 31 gelatin silver photographs, most glued to album leaves, 4 are backed with lined and bound in. Photographs approx. 24.5x19.5 cm (9⅝x7¾"). Album is 25x30.3 cm (9¾x12"), leatherette, post-bound. Exceptional photographic record of Oakland real estate in the roaring '20's. Many of the photographs captioned in the negatives, some with captions on the mounts. Among those pictured is the State Savings Bank building, "Value 1904 $300 per foot - Value 1925 $5,000 per foot. Present lease to run 6 years then pays 6% on $10,000.00 per foot." A large unidentified building had an "Original purchase price less than $20,000.00 - Present value $2,000,000.00." A West Coast Theatres building "Sold in 1917 at $30.00 per ft. - Value 1927 at $1,500 per ft." Other buildings include the Oakland City Hall; an undeveloped Grand Avenue ("don't delay"); Lake Merrit and the "Oakland Skyline 1927"; Broadway in 1878 and 1926; the Montgomery Ward building; the rather modest "M.F. Weber Wholesale Meats"; etc. Lot Amendments Condition: Minor fading and a creases to some images; overall very good. Item number: 320656
