(From the Curious to the Extraordinary, 6th May 2021) RELICS OF EXTINCT BIRDS: A FEATHER OF AN IVORY BILLED WOODPECKER, CAMPEPHILUS PRINCIPALIS RELICS OF EXTINCT BIRDS: A FEATHER OF AN IVORY BILLED WOODPECKER, CAMPEPHILUS PRINCIPALIS South Eastern United States, believed extinct since 1944, in a display box, of Natural History interest, the feather 55mm long Not seen since 1944 when its last known habitat, owned by the Singer Sewing Company, was logged in northeastern Louisiana. Provenance: from the collection of celebrated taxidermist Barry Williams. Viktor Wynd’s Museum, London. The Viktor Wynd Museum of Curiosities, Fine Art & UnNatural History is a contemporary reinterpretation of a Pre-Enlightenment Wunderkabinett or Cabinet of Curiosities. It is the creation of artist and writer Viktor Wynd, who has just opened a Falmouth branch of his museum inside the National Maritime Museum. His most recent book 'The UnNatural History Museum' was published by Prestel in 2020.
