(Religion, Liturgie) - Book of Hours, in Latin, for the use of Utrecht (?), illuminated on vellum. [ Bruges, c. 1450]. In-8° (15 x 11,8 cm) : 72-[1] lvs (decorated lvs slightly cropped at the top or at the bottom, Crucifixion damaged by water, slightly used). 19th century binding : full red calf, bords with gold tooled frame, flat spine, gilt edges (binding used). Text (9,2 x 6,4 cm) : 19 lines, ruled in light pink, Gothic script, rubricated, initials in foliate gold, red or blue, some with blue or red pen flourishing. Content : Calender for the use of Utrecht (?) including Adrianus (4 March), Saint Sophia (15 May) and Saint Lazarus (17 December) (ff. 1-6); Hours of the Holy Cross (ff. 7r-9); Mass of the Virgin (ff. 10-12); Hours of the Holy Spirit (ff.13-20); Offices of the virgin for use of Rome : ad matutinas (ff. 21-28); ad laudes (ff. 29-35); ad primam (ff. 36-38); ad terciam (ff. 39-40); ad sextam (ff. 41-42); ad nonam (ff. 43-44); ad vesperas (ff. 45-47); ad completorum (ff. 48-49); Seven Penitential Psalms (ff. 50-59) and the Office of the Death (ff. 60-72). Illumination: 6 FULL-PAGE MINIATURES, 6 large initials painted in blue with foliate gold, in large full decorated borders, decorated initials in gold on blue and red grounds throughout. Iconography: Crucifixion, Throning Virgin with Child, Pentecost, Annunciation, Last Judgment, Office of the Dead.
