RENÉ D'ANJOU (1409-1480), Duke of Anjou, of Bar and of Lorraine, King of Naples, titular King of Sicily and of Aragon . Document signed ('Rene'), a warrant addressed to James Lovet, his treasurer in France, Aix, 7 June 1460, directing him to pay the sum of 400 livres tournois to Gilles de Maille, Sieur de Bresze, René's counsellor and chamberlain, on 1 October for his expenses in the administration of Anjou; 14 lines written on vellum, 1 page, 178 x 330 mm (slightly faded), including countersignatures and contemporary endorsements, remains of wax seal; and a document signed by Jean [Huet], bishop of Toulon from 1454-83, as protonotary of the Holy See and perpetual administrator of the episcopacy of Toulon and its finances, Aix, 29 July 1460, a warrant for the execution of the payment. 8 lines on vellum, 1 page, 110 x 315 mm (attached to the first document by a vellum tag).
