Engraved portrait frontispiece by J. Shelley after W. Moll, 23 aquatint, mezzotint and engraved plates, 11 hand-coloured, 11 with overlays, one double-page, one folding, 4 plans, one hand-coloured, illustrations and vignettes, 2 with overlays. Contemporary mottled calf gilt, spine gilt in compartments with red morocco lettering-piece (rebacked in old style). Provenance : Charles Beckford Long (armorial bookplate); Brent Gration-Maxfield (signature dated 1975 and pencil annotation to front free endpapers collating the copy as complete). FIRST EDITION. Abbey Scenery 390; Archer 279.1: "... perhaps [Repton's] most significant and influential publication overall."
