Folio (300 x 206 mm). 328 leaves (of 330, lacking k3 and k8, supplied in period manuscript): [pi]6 a-r10 S8 s10 t8 u-v10 w10 x10 y12; 1-510 6-78 810. Double column. Rubricated throughout with lombard initials, capital strokes and occasional paragraph marks in red. Period blind roll-tooled half pigskin over plain beech boards. Lacking k3 & k8 but supplied in exactly period near-facsimile manuscript (and uniformly rubricated), occasional soiling and light staining, two wormholes affecting a few letters, last few leaves dog-eared, very few closed tears, lower board renewed. Provenance: Conradus (inscription); Johannes Blaternus, chaplain of Donaueschingen (inscription dated 1605); Sotheby's, July 1, 1994, lot 282, "Incunabula from the Court Library at Donaueschingen." EDITIO PRINCEPS AND AMERBACH'S FIRST DATED BOOK. Reuchlin was an important early figure in German humanism. His was the most popular Latin dictionary of the incunable period. He was superseded in the first decade of the 16th century by Ambrogio Calepino. The other parts are GUARENSIS VERONENSIS, Ars dipthongandi and JOHANNES DE LAPIDE, De Arte punctandi; De Accentu.
