REVOLUTIONARY WAR. HANCOCK, JOHN. Printed document signed as Governor of Massachusetts, Boston, 12 May 1788, one page, folio, large papered seal of the Commonwealth at top, text accomplished in manuscript, countersigned by Samuel Avery, Secretary, an appointment of Daniel Howard, who has been "chosen a Senator by a Majority of Voters in the County of Plimouth," and directing him to appear at a General Court session in Boston on a given day. Bears a large signature -- HAMILTON, ALEXANDER. Autograph document signed (in the text in third person), as Secretary of the Treasury, n.p., 18 December 179l, one page, a small oblong, recording receipt of $50.000 "on account of the Society for Establishing Useful Manufacturers," comprising three lines in his hand -- ADAMS, SAMUEL. Printed document signed in full as Governor of Massachusetts, Boston, l September 1796, one page, folio, small defects at top and left-hand edge (not affecting text), embossed seal at top, countersigned by Samuel Avery, appointing Lathrop Lewis of Gorham to be "Coroner in our County of Cumberland" -- JAY, JOHN. Printed document signed in full as Governor of New York, New York City, 30 October l800, one page, oblong 4to, minor spotting, papered seal of New York at left, accomplished in manuscript, countersigned by Daniel Hale Appointing John Millspaugh a Major of the Second Squadron of Cavalry in the "Militia of this State...according the Rules and Discipline of War..." -- CLYMER, GEORGE, Signer (Pennsylvania). Document signed ("GeoClymer"), Philadelphia, 11 February l803, one page, an oblong. A promissory note, written and signed by Henry Clymer, for $1832, endorsed at bottom "To Credit of ye Drawer" and signed by Clymer; together five items, each professionally matted with an engraved portrait, glazed and within various giltwood frames (by Goodspeed's). Unexamined outside of frames. (5)
