RICHARD TESCHNER (Karlsbad 1879 - 1948 Wien) Ruderer, 1933 Aquarell/Papier, 21,7 x 15,3 cm monogrammiert rT und datiert 1933 Provenienz: Johann Kosmath, Nachlass Siegrid Kosmath, Privatbesitz SCHÄTZPREIS: °€ 400 - 800 Künstler des Wiener Jugendstil. Stammt aus Karlsbad in Böhmen. Studierte an der Kunstakademie in Prag und der Kunstgewerbeschule in Wien. Kunsthandwerker, Puppenspieler, Mitglied der Wiener Werkstätte. Im Umfeld von Gustav Klimt verbrachte Sommerurlaube am Attersee. Inspiriert vom javanischen Puppentheater, von Märchen und Sagen, schuf er Ölbilder und Grafik auch Stabpuppen und Bühnendekorationen mit phantastischen Motiven und Figurenbilder wie die Ruderer. In Böhmen geboren und aufgewachsen studierte Richard Teschner zunächst an der Kunstakademie Prag und später an der Wiener Kunstgewerbeschule. Nach seiner Übersiedlung nach Wien schloss er sich der Wiener Werkstätte an. Ab 1910 gehörte er wie Gustav Klimt zu einer Gruppe von Künstlern und Kreativen, die regelmäßig als Gäste des k. u. k. Hoftischlermeisters Friedrich Paulick ihre Sommerfrische in dessen Villa am Attersee verbrachten. Dort lernte er die Tochter des Gastgebers, Emma Paulick, kennen, die er 1911 ehelichte. Diese vorteilhafte Heirat verschaffte ihm finanzielle Unabhängigkeit. Inspiriert vom javanischen Stabpuppentheater wendet er sich in der Folgezeit neben der Malerei und Grafik auch dem Puppenspiel zu und gestaltet eigene Stabpuppen und Guckkastenbühnen. Seine Malerei und Grafik ist unter anderem von Elementen aus der asiatischen Kultur sowie von Märchen und Sagen geprägt.

Comes from Karlsbad (Karlovy Vary) in Bohemia. Studied at the Academy of Arts in Prague and the School of Arts and Crafts in Vienna. Artisan, puppeteer, member of the Wiener Werkstätte. In the environment of Gustav Klimt spent summer vacations at Lake Attersee. Inspired by Javanese puppet theater, fairy tales and legends, he created oil paintings and graphics also stick puppets and stage decorations with fantastical motifs and figure paintings such as the rowers. Born and raised in Bohemia, Richard Teschner first studied at the Art Academy in Prague and later at the Vienna School of Applied Arts. After moving to Vienna, he joined the Wiener Werkstätte. From 1910 on, like Gustav Klimt he belonged to a group of artists and creatives who were regular guests of the k. u. k. (“imperial and royal”, referring to the Habsburgs dual monarchy Austria-Hungary) court carpenter Friedrich Paulick. The group spent their summer holidays in Paulicks villa at lake Attersee. There Teschner met the host's daughter, Emma Paulick, whom he married in 1911. This advantageous marriage gave him financial independence. Inspired by the Javanese stick puppet theater, he subsequently turned to painting and graphics as well as puppetry and designed his own stick puppets and proscenium stages. His paintings and graphics are influenced, among other things, by elements from Asian culture as well as fairy tales and legends.
