Robert Giard was a landscape and portrait photographer best-known for his series "Particular Voices: Portraits of Gay and Lesbian Writers," which was published in 1997 and exhibited at the New York Public Library the following year. Through his photographs, Giard was able to document queer lives during this period, depicting iconic literary figures such as Allen Ginsberg as well as emerging writers.
