Initialed, inscribed and dedicated "to Andy" with an abstract drawing in felt-tip pen and ink on the inside cover and front flyleaf. Loughlin was well-known as a picker and dealer of mid-century furniture who sold to high-end interior designers and artists such as Andy Warhol Robert Mapplethorpe and Jean-Michel-Basquiat. He started painting his iconic "brute", the square-jawed man smoking a cigarette, in the early 1980s and used found objects such as furniture, textiles, boxes and even other artist's paintings as his canvases.
