Four years after the creation of the first Submariner, Rolex introduced the 5512 in 1959 with really specialty features such as a smaller crown, a crown guards and a revolving bezel with gradations for decompression. After the feedback for the divers who tested the watch, Rolex realised that the protective crown were actually rather uncomfortable for the divers. They soon decided to improve the design for comfort, making what is now known as the "pointed crown guards" Submarines. This is an incredible piece for any collector as they are time pieces that are rarely seen on the auction market
