ROMAN AND LATER ARTEFACT GROUP 1st-10th century AD A group of mixed bronze, silver and silver-gilt items comprising: a bronze handle in the form of a swan's head; two silver bracelets in the form of snakes; a gilt bronze scutiform fitting with domed boss to the centre and leaf pattern to the body, two lugs to the back; a pair of silver-gilt temple rings, one a crescentic rod with three hollow bulbs and ropework bands; the bulbs with granule and filigree detail, the other a openwork, spherical bead bisected by a raised band of bordered dots; body of bead composed of three pelta patterns with dots at scrolled ends forming a trefoil enclosed in a hatched border. 104 grams, 42-70mm (1 3/4 - 2 3/4").
