THE GREAT 1999 DRCs The 1999 vintage was a revalation in Burgundy, especially for Domaine de la Romanée-Conti. Michael Broadbent who has been tasting Burgundy for over fifty years has this to say of this rare vintage; "A great vintage and, for ripeness and finesse, exceeding even the 1990. This vintage is a must." Most of these wines have now been snapped up by collectors so this represents a perhaps a final chance to acquire these preciously rare and outstanding wines. With 12 bottles of the Montrachet and Romanée-Conti, an assortment and six bottle OWCs of La Tâche, Richebourg and Echézeaux, this is a very comprehensive offering and should not be missed. Romanée-Conti--Vintage 1999 Côte de Nuits, Domaine de la Romanée-Conti Lot 502-504 in original wooden cases Parcel: lots 502-503 "The nose was spicy, clove-like, the new oak very apparent. Although not dramatic, a wine of great depth. Distinctly dry, masculine, concentrated, chewy and of course tannic. Like an unexploded bomb. Tasted Feb 2002 (*****) A great future for the lucky-and very wealthy-few, and a disasterous waste for those who might buy it for almost immediate drinking-alas, this does happen, and unwittingly harms the reputation of the Domaine. This is a serious problem, particularly in the USA. Drink 2020 and beyond. " MB, Vintage Wine 6 bottles per lot
