Disbound and housed in a cloth folding case. A 19th-century reissue of Falda's famous work from the original plates, some plates with the : "Calcografia di Roma" blindstamp in plate margin. "This collection of plates is the most charming that has ever appeared on the fountains of Rome and its environs" (Fowler). Contemporary half morocco (broken). Provenance : Sir John Wormald (armorial bookplate). FIRST EDITION. After training as an architect and studying at the Royal Academy, Goldicutt travelled through Italy and Sicily in 1815 and 1816. During a visit to Rome he was awarded a medal from Pope Pius VII for a drawing of St. Peters. Blackmer 699. BIANCHINI, Giuseppe Maria (1685-1749).
