Jacobus Gronovius]. Leiden, J. du Vivié, 1696, 12mo, cont. sheep (rubbed), gilt spine (head and tail def.), sp. edges, [12]-454-[24]-28-[28] pp. (quire W bound between Y-Z; paper age-toned, ff. Y1-2 loose, p. 369 stained, m. tear in C3, F6). Good copy.
Later ed. (1st 1617) of an extensive description of the antiquities of Rome, esp. the Forum Romanum by the Ghent author J. Rycquius (1587-1627), edited by the Leiden classical scholar J. Gronovius (1645-1716). Variant issue , with a woodcut ornament on the typographical title instead of an engraving. Engr. ills : front. by Romeyn de Hooghe , 3 folding plates outside collation and 17 in text (coins, medals, etc.). Quire Z is an 8-page stocklist of Du Vivié. Mod. bookpl. Ref. Rossetti (Rome) G-973.
