Engraved titles and numerous engraved plates after Moreau, Marillier, Le Barbier, Leclerc, and others. (Some occasional spotting.) Contemporary red straight-grained morocco gilt, spines gilt in 6 compartments, gilt lettered in two, edges gilt (some minor scuffing and staining). A richly bound and illustrated set of Rousseau's works in fine red morocco. Jean-Jacques Rousseau is widely considered to be one of the most influential thinkers of the Enlightenment; he remains a central figure in the history of philosophy due not only to his contributions to political and moral philosophy, but also because of his influence on later thinkers.
