ROYAL AUTOGRAPHS] Louis XVI autograph letter signed , single page of a folded sheet of stationery, integral leaf blank except where addressed "À M. Necker" on the address panel with the royal black wax seal, split where opened. 7 x 4 1/2 inches (18 x 11.5 cm), five lines in the King's hand, signed "Louis," undated, but before 11 July 1789 [presumably Versailles]. Usual folds. [BOUND WITH] Document signed by Marie Antoinette on vellum, dated August 15, 1794, Versailles, also signed by Despriez, the Secretary to the Household of the Queen, with the attached royal waifer seal, with annotations on the verso. 13 x 19 3/4 inches (32.5 x 50 cm), 17 lines in a formal secretarial hand, centrally signed in full by Marie Antoinette, annotated by Despriez and docketed on verso. Folded, some minor soiling. The two documents presented in a full red morocco binding with the arms of Louis XVI, signed by [Georges] Canape on the turn-in, gray moire silk endsheets. 13 1/4 x 10 inches (33 x 25 cm); with a hand-lettered title, and three engravings bound in. Some minimal wear but about fine. Two fine documents, that by Louis XIV thanking Jacques Necker, his finance minister, for information regarding the Caisse D'Escompte, and commending Necker for the confidence he has inspired; that signed by Marie Antoinette at Versailles, the confirmation for Jean Baptiste Charles Joseph David de Princay that he had completed the necessary formalities to become one of the Gentlemen in Waiting to the ordinary Household of the Queen.
