An interesting archive of manuscript papers relating to James Christie mostly early 19th century, including a Warrant of appointment admitting James Christie as His Majesty's Servant in Ordinary into the place of Gentleman of the Wine Cellar at Carlton House, 26th August [1812]; Royal warrant dated 21 September 1820, granting Mary Ann Christie, wife of James Christie a yearly pension of 60 pounds, signed by King George IV at head of document; Royal warrant appointing James Christie as Gentleman of the Wine Cellar in Ordinary, 30th April 1831, signed by King William IV at head; Appointment of James Christie into the place of Gentleman of the Wine Cellar, 7th June 1838, addressed to Thomas Marrable, Secretary to the Board of Green Cloth, another dated 30th April 1831, signed 'Wellesley'; an invoice from the Royal Wine Company, Oporto, 31st March 1800, for a shipment of 16 pipes of wine on board the Aurora under Captain Scott, and into the port of London for the account of Messrs. Christie & Barrow of Artillery Place; Copy of a document to the clerk comptroller of His Majesty's kitchen, Windsor Castle, 16 September 1833, stating it is not permitted to any gentleman of His Majesty's household to invite his friends to dine &c with him in his chamber without His Majesty's special authority; Memorial of James Christie to the Lord Steward of His Majesty's household and the Board of Green Cloth (2 copies); Copy of a letter from James Christie to the Hon. C.A. Murray, Master of the Household, April 1843, concerning alleged misdemeanours [from which he was fully exonerated]; Character references in support of James Christie's integrity from Fred B.
