Broadsheet (615 x 465 mm). Engraved throughout. Title, 1p. text (verso blank), portrait of Rubens after van Dyck by J.Audran, engraved dedication leaf, 24 plates (3 double-page) after Rubens by Benoit Audran J.Audran, Duchange, l. de Chastillon, G.Edelinck, Trouvain and Vermeulen and 3 duplicated pates before lettering (some browning and staining). Later half calf (worn, backstrip perished). Provenance : Claiborne Pell (bookplate). FIRST EDITION. The plates, after Rubens, take the form of an allegorical history of the life of Catherine de Medici. Cohen-de Ricci 915.
