RUBINSTEIN, Anton (1829-1894). Autograph manuscript signed of Rappelle-toi , one of Ten Songs , op. 83, no. 1, inscribed on the title page Lieder, aus dem Französische, Englische und Italienische übersetzt von [...] für Singstimme mit Begleitung des Claviers Komponiert von Ant. Rubinstein , the first page inscribed A Madame la Princesse de Bariatinsky née de Bouténieff with the name of the author of the text Alfred de Musset , black ink, the text in French with the German translation sometimes within the stave and sometimes above it in pencil, the latter with numerous corrections, the bars numbered by the engraver in blue crayon, the plate number in red crayon, 4 pages including title, 3 systems of 3 staves per page, oblong 4°, 260 x 345mm., (the leaves disjoint, some discoloration and fraying). The Ten Songs , op. 83, were composed in 1869. This manuscript was clearly used by the engraver and shows a reworking of the German translation of de Musset's text, as well as of some of the music.
