A candid portrait of The Babe at bat in Japan, inscribed on the lower-right portion of the image: "To my friend Frederick Smith Sincerrrly [ sic ] Babe Ruth." Inscribed photographs of Ruth with a Japanese connection are rare. "Baseball's most legendary figure, with an all-around talent to match his reputation. The Babe was an outstanding pitcher, but Ed Barrow had the bright idea he would be even more valuable playing every day. He was - establishing some of the game's longest enduring records"--W.M.
