Provenance Honigman collection, Amsterdam, from whom acquired at the beginning of the nineteenth century by Worthington collection, Amsterdam, and by descent in the family, and by whom brought to England shortly before the German invasion of Holland in May 1940 (according to the 1944 exhibition catalogue). with Arthur Tooth & Sons, London. Acquired by the present owner circa 1985.
