A MAGNIFICENT RANGE OF FINE WINES FROM THE PRIVATE CELLAR OF THE RENOWNED INTERNATIONAL CHEF KEN HOM The following wines (lots 1 to 170) have recently been shipped from the vaulted cellar of Ken Hom's 13th Century restored village house in Catus, near to Cahors. The natural cellar temperature remains close to 12 throughout the year with a relatively high but desirable 80 degrees of humidity. Virtually every bottle has an excellent level and it has only been noted where labels or capsules are partly affected by the level of humidity - beneficial to wine if not to paper labels and metal capsules. "Although I did not grow up drinking wine in my Chinese family, it is a subject which I have been passionate about for over thirty years. My wine mentor, Ron Batori, first introduced me to fine clarets when I worked for him at a professional school for chefs in San Francisco. I have been collecting ever since, mostly to drink with friends. Much of my cellar is the result of curiosity to taste as many fine clarets as possible in all the best vintages. Thus, my collection is mostly 95 clarets, the focus of my passion. However, I have discovered that I could never drink all my wines and therefore I have decided that it is better to share this collection with the rest of the world." Ken Hom Ken Hom's over 20 bestselling award winning cookbooks and acclaimed BBC-TV series has firmly established him as one of the leading authorities on Asian cookery in over 60 countries. His books have been widely translated into fifteen languages worldwide. Born in the States, he studied medieval art history at the University of California - Berkeley and was formerly a professional photographer and free-lance television producer. He has travelled extensively and lived in Europe where he studied film. Today Ken Hom travels the world, conducting cooking demonstrations and appearing on radio and television shows. In 1990, he was inducted in the prestigious Who's Who of Food and Beverage in America as recognition of his significant and lasting achievement in the culinary industry. Ken Hom is a sought-after food and restaurant consultant with clients from airlines to cruise ships to five star hotels and restaurants. He now divides his time between the UK, France and Thailand. A number of the bottles carry U.S. strip labels. These wines were removed from Ken Hom's home in Berkeley, California in 1997 when he decided to establish a permanent base in South-west France. Now lying in Twickenham, Middlesex (EHD) Sandeman--Vintage 1966 (1) Warre, Cavadinha--Vintage 1982 halves (4) Graham--Vintage 1983 (1) Dow--Vintage 1985 (1) De La Riva, Amontillado Extra Tonel--Vintage 1819 (1) De La Rive, Olorosso Reserva--Vintage 1830 Bin-soiled and damaged labels (2) Above 6 bottles and 4 half-bottles per lot
