SCHUMANN, Clara (1819-1896). Two autograph letters signed ('Deine alte Mutter Clara') to her daughter Elise, Frankfurt am Main and Basel, 9 April 1880 and 31 May 1892, 16 pages, 8vo , sending family and musical news, in the first describing plans for a concert which will involve 'Manfred (under Joachim's direction), then Joachim will play Brahms's violin concerto (under Brahms's direction), then the Requiem für Mignon, then the E flat major symphony' and a matinée on the following day, also with Joachim and Brahms; with a card inscribed by Elise Schumann, and three related items. Provenance : presented to the pianist Rudolf Serkin, 1955 and 1961. (6)
