SCHUMANN, Robert (1810-1856). FIRST EDITION of KINDERSCENEN , opus 15, bearing an AUTOGRAPH DEDICATION to Franz Liszt, dated Vienna, 18 May, 8 leaves, and with AUTOGRAPH TEMPI MARKINGS in three of the numbers and two autograph corrections, separately paginated in red ink pp.325-344, plate no.6016, Breitkopf & Härtel, Leipzig, [1839], quarto, (315 x 250mm.), modern printed wrappers loose in morocco gilt stamped portfolio (outer corners torn and repaired affecting the boarder on a few pages, foxing) Kinderscenen was composed in February 1838 while Schumann was living in Leipzig, during a period of enforced separation from Clara Wieck, to whom he wrote announcing completion of the composition. Schumann gave William Härtel detailed instructions about the format and ornamentation to be used in this poublication. The late 1830's and early 1840's were a period of constant travel for Liszt.
